What is Article Marketing? Article marketing is the practice of posting keyword-focused articles on article sites that then syndicate your…content. Having your articles syndicated by certain sites that have a large readership following will propagate your expertise and links throughout the web.

How to Write an Article for Marketing? Some people are very intimidated about writing. Their fear keeps them from starting at all. However, the most important step to article writing is to get started. First, pick one topic to to write about and keep the article to 400 words or less. Second, write down your thoughts and don’t worry about search engine optimization or perfection for that matter. Third, go back and edit your draft now looking for keywords and good writing style. Remember that passion beats market trends. Therefore, write on topics that you know and are passionate about.

Keyword Research is Important in Article Marketing. Before you write your article, you’ll want to spend some time doing keyword research. Keyword research is the action of discovering those keywords which users actually use to find specific content on the Internet. It can also be described as balancing the popularity of a keyword (or search phrase) against how competitive that keyword phrase is. This is important because if you spend a lot of time and money targeting the wrong keywords and phrases your return on investment will not be maximized. Alternatively, if your keywords have a significant number of results you may have a difficult time getting ranked for that competitive of a keyword.

So after investing the time to uncover the keywords you want to focus on the subject of your article will be obvious. Choose the placement of your keywords strategically without spamming. Do not turn your article into a sales letter, but you can also use your keywords as the anchor text (the words clicked) for any links in your article.

Article Syndication. Recently I submitted an article to Ezine Articles called “How To Make Money Online Using YouTube.” My article was accepted in less than 24 hours because it was original content and it was well-written. I also noted that my article was picked up and reused by several other sites and was getting views and reads. (How do I know this? Google Alerts.)

There are several good article syndication sites on the Internet and most allow you to post your article for free. However, these sites have guidelines and are stringent that you follow their rules. When your article is published, your content becomes available for anyone to read – and hopefully reuse. This is important because if another site reuses your article then your name and links are distributed on the web, which increases your exposure. In many cases, blogs or other sites that post your content have large viewership, which increases traffic to your site.

Some article submission sites will allow you to include links in the body of your articles. By doing this you can link your keyword phrases and promote your products with that keyword. This is a very effective search engine optimization technique. Other sites won’t allow you to include links but you can always include links in your your profile or signature information box. This also adds important one-way backlinks to your blog or website.

Article Sites Want Good Material. Syndicated article sites want good material to publish. However, many of these sites won’t publish your content if it’s not well written. So make sure to do the obvious like proofread your articles and have them spell checked before submitting them. Even if an article site accepts a poorly-written article for publication, you will want to project a positive impression to your readers. By making your article compelling and grammatically correct you will shed the best light on your products and encourage others to link to your article and even republish it.

Outsourcing Article Marketing. As you probably know, most business activities can be outsourced to others for perhaps less than the cost of you doing those activities yourself. But even if you have to a ghost writer write for you, it’s a good idea to be familiar with the content and review any work that will have your name attached to it. The good news is that its usually fairly inexpensive to have a good article written by a talented ghost writer, but you still get the credit!

Finding Good Article Sites Using Google Alerts. I discussed earlier using article syndication sites. You will be able to find several that you like to work with that are also effective in getting your article noticed after doing some research. I recommend using Google Alerts for your targeted keywords to see which articles sites are getting good exposure in Google.

With Google Alerts you will specify the keyword or keyword phrase for which you want alerts sent to you. You can choose to receive alerts for various categories like news articles, web pages, blog postings, groups, or you can select “Comprehensive” or “Web.” Comprehensive will give you the alerts for all of the selections combined while Article sites are included with the Web selection. Your designated alerts will arrive via email and you can choose to be notified as it happens or in increments (daily, weekly, etc.). You’ll see a listing of items that include your selected keyword phrase. Among the listings you’re likely to see one or more article syndication sites. Click the news item to visit the site where the article is posted, sign up and you’re ready to go.

Take the Article Marketing Plunge. If you haven’t tried it yet to promote your product, website, links and/or your home business website, you will see that article marketing works and it is a powerful way to get traffic and positive public relations exposure.

There are three simple steps to making money using YouTube. First, you must create a video of interest to a particular special interest group, or niche. You should use the keywords to that niche in your video title in order to maximize views. Second, you must sign up as an affiliate marketer for a chosen…

…product in that niche or you must already have a website where your product is sold. Third, you must enter a hyperlink in the video description field at the beginning and end of the description (under “more info”). Your hyperlink should take the user to a sales page where the product you are promoting can be purchased by the viewer.

The key to making money online is to drive traffic to your video. Thus, the most important elements generally are: (1) video title with searchable keywords included; (2) appropriate tags; (3) number of comments and ratings; and (4) great video content that people enjoy watching. Remember, that you are only trying to appeal to those persons who are searching the niche you are promoting.

In order to be successful making money online, you must focus on driving traffic, or views, to your video. So most of your effort should be focused on this result. Many people don’t realize the importance of spending effort on marketing, but rather focus on the video content.

Since driving traffic, or views, to your videos and links are a key element to your success, you should employ any ethical technique you can think of to meet your objective. For example, email your friends and family members to post comments and ratings on your videos. Share your videos via social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace. Post a blog entry about your video. Make a comment on someone else’s blog and include a hyperlink to your video. There are hundreds of creative techniques you can use to drive traffic so you can start making money online today.

Bruce totally gets this, so much that he recently moved to the Caribbean and lives on one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen – literally feet from white sand and crashing waves – because he has tapped into his ‘wealth profile’…

As we were speaking, he told me about a project he’s working on with Roger Hamilton to help others learn about their wealth dynamics.  So how does this apply to you?  Roger has studied the world’s most successful billionaires and has determined that there are 8 different wealth profiles and that every person’s greatest success and/or wealth is created in just 1 profile.  When you know your wealth profile you literally tap into a super-highway of fulfillment.

Out of the 8 wealth profiles mine is off-the-charts “Creator”. What does that mean? A Creator is good at starting businesses/projects, innovation, creativity, and Creators move faster than anyone around, but they also carry some weaknesses.

Creators are horrible at follow thru, they get bored easily, they’re not good managers, they don’t pay attention to details, and they often move onto the next project before they can reap the rewards of their previous venture… yup that’s me alright!

I’ve owned businesses since I was in my early 20’s and I’ve been a champ at getting my ventures up fast, profitable, and extremely innovative but then my sabotage cycle begins. I quickly get bored with the business and move on to the next, sometimes I’m able to assemble a good team or sell off the business but not always.

After learning my wealth profile, I know where to focus and how I can put the right people in place to avoid any sabotage.  One thing that has helped me is having a personal assistant.  Without the help of Rob, my assistant, I’d be repeating these destructive cycles as I’ve done in the past.  Rob fills the holes I leave when I get a project started.

First let me explain how we approached these meetings…

We did not create this group for Paidin14Days, it was created to help some local people learn about Internet Marketing.  The group title is How-to-Get-Started-at-Internet-Marketing and truly our intent was not to “pitch” our products and services but to give away amazing content.  We truly have wanted to help others succeed in the new world of Internet Marketing and hopefully learn some things ourselves.

Luckily for us, we have had a few members of this group purchase our program materials.  Many others have opted to be a part of our email list.  So this group is a good sample of our current and future customers and members.  While we did not emphasize our program at all, Paidin14Days did come up in the discussion as group members were discussing things.  So we asked the group how we should charge for our materials and program.

The discussion turned to one participant who had purchased our Digital Only product and was well into the 14 day training program.  The group asked this participant this question:

“Now that you have seen the videos and ordered the product, how much is the Paidin14Days program worth to you?”

Spencer and I were sitting there on pins and needles…there was no pre-planned agenda with this, it just happened.  Our customer thought for about 10 seconds (which I swear seemed like 5 minutes), then she said…“Now that I am into the videos…I would pay $500 for this program.”

Holy Cow!  I almost fell off my chair…where was my Flip Video Camera (crap, it wasn’t turned on).  So then we asked them if all customers felt this way, how could we make sure they got a copy of our program in their hands?

The answer:  Give it to them for free!

What?  Give away the program we have spent months and months recording, developing, testing, and producing?

That is what they said…so guess what?  We have changed our store page to give away our product on a trial basis so everyone can have a copy of our program and see what it’s all about.

This makes me think of Robinson Kreutznaer (Crusoe) who although received sound counsel from his father to be content with the “safe” middle class life he had been handed, he could not resist the inclination that led him so strongly against his father’s command and against all the entreaties and persuasions of his mother and friends. That inclination, back in the 1650’s as the story goes, was to head out to the seas.

Robinson Crusoe’s father’s advise to him was sound and sensible; however, did this change the fact that he had to follow the path he was destined to take?

So what is your passion? Have you felt the desire within you to do something you are destined to do?

Have you ever read a book that just captivated you?

For me, in 2009 that book was “Tribes” by Seth Godin.  In fact, I listened to it on my iPod 3 times in a single week as I drove from Utah to San Diego this summer.

Seth inspired within me a desire to lead.  He says “we need you to lead us” and that spoke directly to my soul. But more importantly, he inspired me to shake away the  doubts and fears in my head and to follow my passion!

But my fears were realistic…after all, I had a great job, a nice house, and other obligations but no time to chase some crazy dream.  I had been stuck in this mental debate for several years…until I read Tribes.

I don’t know what your situation is but I know many people feel as if
the rug has been pulled from under them.

I think the recession, the greed on Wall Street, and the politicians promising to fix everything made us realize that we need to have the skills to make more money through our own efforts.

Anyway, let me urge you to read or listen to Tribes. Then, cast aside your fears and make IT happen!
